Not only does bringing the outdoors to offer a semblance of serenity, but it will also add to the home’s ambiance and design appeal.
Get rid of unnecessary and excessive items: There is a mantra that says, “Outer order, inner calm.” When your external environment is organized and free of clutter, your mind is also free of clutter. To make your home a sanctuary, it’s worth taking time to clean off surfaces and clean out cabinets and cupboards. When rooms are free of junk and knick-knacks, you can fully relax and de-stress.
Hide electrical chords: It’s no secret that today’s society is overstimulated with technology. Many energy-efficient or new-age devices and appliances are either cordless or cord-friendly. If yours are not, work to hide your electrical chords in earthy containers like wood boxes. It may not sound like a huge step, but it will make a big difference in the overall décor of the room. It will also be less of a reminder to plug-in.
Make your bathroom spa-like: You don’t need an expensive renovation to create a bathroom space that feels like a spa. Follow these simple suggestions. Clean your bathroom thoroughly with toxic-free cleansers. Move a diffuser to the bathroom to offer a smell of lavender or sage. Dim lighting also contributes to a spa-like feeling, so ensure your bathroom has a lamp or another type of soft light. Invest in a fluffy bathrobe, slippers, and relaxing bath salts.
Create a happy space: Everyone needs their own space in a home, especially if you have a family with multiple people. It may be a comfy chair in the corner of a sunroom or a small office in a loft space. Natural light and limited sound contribute to an overall feeling of well-being, so consider that when creating this nook. Wherever it is, make it all yours. Put your books, journal, and whatever else you need to fully relax and feel happy.
Accentuate natural light and outdoor spaces: Open your drapes and blinds to allow natural light into your home. Sunlight is a free and abundant mood booster. Walk around and assess all of your windows to figure out how to maximize natural light throughout the day. There is nothing more rejuvenating than a ray of sunlight.
